Hi Everyone.
I just updated my “weekly thoughts” page and I have added a new section to the page titled “My Letters to You.” This section will let me communicate with each and everyone of you, who have taken the time to share your stories and comments on heart disease. I am hoping this will create a personal connection and also, a forum for all of us to interact, educate and inspireĀ one another.
As always, if you have not taken the Heart CheckUp to find out the latest on your heart, please take a few minutes to do so.
Dear Dawn,
We just left Lucero’s place where we enjoyed a very nice family lunch. It is such a treat for us to be invited to visit with her and Mike in her home. Usually they prefer to drive to our home.
I was very moved with your testimony. As a mother, I too am concerned with maintaining my health for me and for our family. I am running a little three times a week (2 miles each time) I am swimming one to twice per week and doing some weights for my upper body). I worry about my cholesterol as it is a little on the high side, although I am told, my good cholesterol is high as well. I have improved my diet in quality and in quantity eating two small meals and a bigger fat free, low carb lunch or dinner. I cannot lose any weight (still 128 to 126lbs in my small 5.1 frame). Do you have any suggestions?
Here is the nutrition I follow:
I eat low fat yogurt three times per week, low fat cottage cheese with blue berries, no other kind of cheeses other than cottage cheese, egg whites only 2 in the morning (fried with PAM), little to no bread but when I do, I only eat multi grain or wheat low carb 1 slice, we eat chicken and fish grilled, only use canola or olive oil sparingly, I do not eat packaged or canned foods, no transfats, no enriched flours, rarely eat a desert, organic cereal once in a while with non fat milk. My only sin is a glass of red wine with dinner. One cup of coffee a day and not every day. No sea food. This probably gives you an idea of what my diet looks like.
I hope you have some suggestions for me.
Greetings to your family,
Deanna
